Judith Jurin Semo

Ms. Semo specializes in health care law and representation of physicians and physician practices and, in particular, anesthesiology practices. As counsel to national medical specialty associations and anesthesiology practices nationwide, she has extensive experience in business and legal issues relating to medical practice and anesthesiology, including:

• Negotiating contracts with hospitals and ASCs
• Reviewing and negotiating employment agreements
• Addressing billing compliance matters
• Providing guidance on regulatory requirements
• Negotiating clinically integrated network participation agreements
• Representing physician groups in the sale of their practices

Ms. Semo has written or co-authored multiple practice management monographs for the American Society of Anesthesiologists on such topics as hospital contract negotiations, ASC practice, negotiating and evaluating employment agreements, and billing compliance and fraud and abuse compliance. She has written numerous articles on issues of interest to physicians, including articles on physician noncompetes and negotiating physician employment agreements. She contributed a chapter, Obtaining ASC Agreements and Responding to RFPs, to a 2019 Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia practice management publication (available at https://www.springer.com/gp/book/9783030191702).

Ms. Semo is a frequent speaker on topics relating to medical practice management and legal issues relating to medical practice.

Ms. Semo graduated magna cum laude from Brown University and with honors from the George Washington University National Law Center. She is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar.
